I read it a while back. It seems that you enjoyed it more than I did. I enjoyed the first 300 pages or so and then the glacial pace started to get on my nerves.
But I did finish it and it was a nice change of pace to all those action-packed novels. My biggest complaint is that the characters were very passive.

Good book, good review.
I wouldn't call it "glacial", exactly, Mervi. To me, the story moved along all right, though perhaps not at the pace we're used to today .Saundra's comparison with 19th century literature was quite exact - I was in no hurry to finish it, so it didn't seem to drag - and the pace fitted in well with the subject matter and the slightly archaic "feel" of the book. I'll definitely look for more of Ms Clarke's work. _________________ Absenen mistatengwar!
